Bar Rescue - Spirits on Bourbon (Turtle Bay) Update

In this week's episode of Bar Rescue: The Dirty Truth, Jon Taffer is in New Orleans, Louisiana to rescue Turtle Bay.  The bar is owned by Brad Bohannan and it is having trouble attracting customers despite being right on Bourbon Street in New Orleans.  Brad copied the tropical theme of another bar he co-owned and Jon needs to convince him to change the bar and the concept.

During the Bar Rescue makeover, Jon Taffer decided to change the name of Turtle Bay to Spirits on Bourbon and the bar has kept the name. I figured since I didn't have a post on this site for Spirits on Bourbon, I would do one for this episode and give an update.

  • Jon Taffer has repeatedly said that Spirits on Bourbon is one of his most successful rescues ever.
  • Spirits on Bourbon still has the barber chair installed by Bar Rescue and continues to serve their signature cocktail "The Resurrection".
  • Spirits on Bourbon has added dueling pianos at the bar as another draw for tourists.
  • A 2017 Wall Street Journal Article about Brad and his wife said his yearly profit from the bars he owned was $148,000. The article detailed their finances and how they can plan to retire by age 50.

Conclusion:

Jon Taffer decided to change the name of Turtle Bay to Spirits on Bourbon and the bar has kept the name and is still open well after the Bar Rescue makeover.  The barbers chair and signature cocktail "The Resurrection" are still at the bar and are selling points to customers.  Owner Brad Bohannan and Jon Taffer keep in touch and have a great relationship because of the success of the bar.  Jon Taffer refers to Spirits on Bourbon as one of his most successful Bar Rescue's and Brad has also talked about how thankful he is for the show.  Spirits on Bourbon proudly displays that it was on Bar Rescue and uses it as a way to attract customers. This works because this bar is in one of busiest tourist areas in the country and many people are familiar with Bar Rescue.
