Bar Rescue - No Name Saloon Update

On this week's episode of Bar Rescue, Jon Taffer and crew are in Edgewater, Florida to rescue No Name Saloon. No Name Saloon is a family owned biker bar and the father is struggling to hand over control of the bar to his daughter.  The customers at the bar are unruly and do not have any respect for the employees of the bar.  No Name Saloon also doesn't have a drink menu and the portion sizes of their food are way too big.  The bar is supposedly losing $7,000 a month and the owner Jim Kelly is supposedly $800,000 in debt.

During the Bar Rescue makeover, Jon Taffer decided to keep the name of No Name Saloon. Let's take a look at some information, reviews, and updates for No Name Saloon since Bar Rescue came and made all of the changes to the bar (All reviews are post-Bar Rescue):

Positive Reviews:
  • "I stop in once a week early afternoon. ..always have great, pleasant service from Susan. ...other servers are kind as well. .i always enjoy the chat with all the customers i cross paths with as well. ..Mr Kelly is always kind to me as well. ..thank you! !!..always a good experience. ..."
  • "Cleaning up nice! Quiet place out side of bike events great bar food and drinks reasonable price's."
  • "Delicious!! Home town, "locals" biker bar..Friendly people, ICE COLD BEER, HUGE OUTSIDE BAR & HANGIN OUT AREA. Easy parking, easy access. Chicken wings were delicious. Pool tables, darts, music. Smoking allowed inside WOOHOOO!!! BEST PRICES NO DOUBT!!"
  • "Awesome biker bar with lots of cheap drinks, food, and live music"
  • "Interesting place. Lots of room to party, inside and outdoors. Relaxed atmosphere and great for motorcycle riders."
  • "Great prices on drinks, food, and music. It's smokey though and especially so if you don't smoke like me. Outside seating when the weather cooperates."

Negative Reviews:
  • "the food was okay but having to sit and listen to "Gansta Rap" with it's F... this and MF... that and weak pop music has turned a decent Biker bar into someplace to avoid, especially with children or anyone over 25. The classic rock and country were always easy to listen too and relax. Vulgar rap music makes this a place to avoid."
  • "Ok.....I have heard that this place is great for bike week, but for other times not so good. The food has really gone down hill . I hope the new management us going to make this bar better but for now don't waste your time. Sorry No Name....hope you do better in the future."
  • "Place is a dump. Seen prettier junk yards."
  • "Fun place to play pool and darts. Equipment has issues though, great prided drinks. Food looked good. Way too much smoke from smokers. My clothes still stink from smoke.Local smokers love the place."

Other News and Links:
  • The Bar Rescue episode was filmed in June 2017, so a year before the episode aired.
  • Here are two preview videos of the episode from the Paramount YouTube page - Video 1, Video 2
  • Here is the No Name Saloon Facebook Page.
  • Here are the Facebook pages of Jim (owner), Mel (Jim's wife), Susan (Jim's daughter/manager), Jessica (bartender), Brandy (bartender)
  • No Name Saloon has really been hyping up their Bar Rescue appearance on their Facebook Page.  They are having a viewing party with country rapper Big Smo, who appeared on the MT Bottle episode of Bar Rescue and later went on to have a reality show. (Link)
  • Somebody was asking if they knew when Bar Rescue was coming/filming and if the show was staged.  Mel responded, "it’s ALL staged. More than you would even believe. Insanity."
  • The bar was damaged in 2016 during Hurricane Matthew.  The Kelly family apparently live in a home next to the bar which was also badly damaged.  Jim and his wife are cancer survivors and their daughter survived a near fatal car accident. (Link)
  • Here is a video of what looks like a bikini contest at the bar.  It seems to have gone viral with it having over 3.8 million views.  The comments on the video are pretty entertaining if you want to read them.
  • In August 2017 (2 months after Bar Rescue), a 29 year-old man was shot and killed outside of No Name Saloon.  He was a regular at the bar and occasionally worked as a bar back and in the kitchen.  He was apparently sitting on someone's car, who then shot him,  The shooter was arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder. Conclusion:

The reviews for No Name Saloon have been mixed since the Bar Rescue makeover with people liking the makeover, the food, and the fact that it is a biker friendly bar.  Some people like the fact that you are allowed to smoke inside, while others have complaints about it.  Two months after the Bar Rescue makeover, someone was murdered outside the bar, which probably didn't help business. It seems that No Name Saloon is happy with the makeover with the way they have been promoting the watch party and the way they have been advertising their appearance on Bar Rescue.
