Owner from Bar Rescue's Pit and Barrel Shoots and Kills Man

Photo - WSMV
Here is some more crazy news involving a bar from Bar Rescue.  Tonight, the new Bar Rescue episode that is scheduled to air at 10pm was at the BoondoxXx BBQ which was transformed into Pit and Barrel.

Saturday, the owner of the Pit and Barrel, Chris Michaels Ferrell shot and killed Jerald Wayne Mills at the bar.  Jerald Wayne Mills was part of the Wayne Mills Band.  The news stories that are out there about the incident state that Chris Michaels Ferrell and Wayne Mills got in an argument around 5:00am over Mills smoking in a non-smoking section of the bar.  Things escalated and Chris Michaels Ferry shot Wayne Mills in what he is claiming was self-defense.  Wayne Mills was transported to the hospital and later died.

This is the 2nd shooting and fatality at a Bar Rescue bar this week, with the other occurring at Second Base Bar and Grill.  It remains to be seen if Spike TV will air tonight's episode of Bar Rescue at Pit and Barrel.  If you are looking at the earlier update I posted, most of the links will be broken as Pit and Barrel has deactivated their Facebook page.

If more information comes out about this incident, I will keep everyone up to date.

Update - From the looks of the Bar Rescue schedule on Spike TV's website, it looks like they have replaced tonight's episode with a rerun.

UPDATE 11/25/2013 - Spike TV actually aired the encore episode of the Pit and Barrel episode.  More information with screenshots here.

  1. Sound great. Can't wait.

  2. Do NOT air this episode, this bar deserves ZERO publicity. Shot in the BACK of the head is NOT self defense.

  4. Cant help but think if Wayne was at home with his wife and young son rather than drinking, smoking and fighting in a bar at 5am he might still be alive.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Except for the fact that he was a career musician who had just performed at this bar. Look at the facts before making a stupid comment.

  6. You are a tool. If JFK was at home and not cruising around Dallas in a g-ride he also wouldn't have been shot. Get a life troll.

They made the right decision living here in Nashville if I were him I wouldn't be out on the streets. Lots of angry people here. Self defense does not require shooting someone in the head. I bet the owner was drunk too.

  8. They have live music at 5am?

    ReplyDelete
  9. JFK working that day and WITH his family.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Ray is a friggin heartless moron.

    ReplyDelete
  11. And Wayne's son is now a fatherless child. Which is sadder?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Maybe, maybe not. But you do realize that after a band plays they have take down their equipment, put it in their vehicle and then wait to get paid, right? You ever been in a bar? That is a really stupid question. I have seen bands leave a bar at 4am, 5am and 6am after finishing a gig. And so what if he was drinking? Does that mean he deserves to be shot in the head?

  13. Literally take a step back and fuck your own face dude. You are a complete scum bag trying to justify this shit why? Because this guy was at a bar late for WHATEVER reason? Last time I checked people don't fucking shoot people in bars at any time of day or night you clown. Go jump off a fucking bridge dude, you have zero worth to this planet.

  14. I do indeed realize that. Load out doesnt take that long. I play live music and DJ in bars EVERY week. Bars close at 3am here in Atlanta like they do in Nashville. Usually the music shuts off before last call to close tabs and clear out. Ive never still been there at 5am and 'working'

Okay so if you're working and with your family then it's okay for people to be upset and angry at this man for his actions.. Yeah, thanks for setting us all straight, makes so much sense now! Give yourself a pat on the back!.... For being the most ignorant and insensitive human on earth! ;)

Thank you for not airing the episode!

  17. I was distinguishing between this and JFK. Its sad this happened; tragic even. As the son of a bar hopping alcoholic who died tragically when I was a kid my thoughts and prayers are with his wife and most of all, his son who will spend the rest of his life wondering What If..

    ReplyDelete
  18. hey DUMBASS... KNOW your facts before you speak... I know BOTH parties well... WAYNE was a standup guy...

    ReplyDelete
  19. you PIOUS POS...... since when did GOD make you the judge? YOU sir, are no better than the one with a gun in his hand.... May God have mercy on your soul....

  20. I lost my Dad in a tragic drunken accident when I was
a kid so that where I was coming from. In retrospect my comment my was
ill conceived. I apologize and my prayers and thoughts are with his family and with you, his dear friends. I should not have jumped to judgement. Its easy to judge and project one's own issues from behind the safety of a keyboard. Again I sincerely apologize and wish you all healing during this painful time.

  23. What difference does it make? The shooting didn't happen while they were filming the show.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Why don't you want the bar and/or owner to have any publicity? Stuff happens, and if this was self-defense, there's no reason for the owner to suffer any further loss.

    ReplyDelete
  25. They're playing the episode now on the replay, if anyone still wants to watch it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Looks like it was wrong. I'm watching the episode right now.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Watching it now... from the looks of the show, I doubt self-defense, but hey I wasn't there so I have no room to pass judgment

    ReplyDelete
  28. ...I'm sick at my stomach....

    ReplyDelete
  29. Sorry, not sure how to take that comment.

    ReplyDelete
  30. They aired it at 2am, what the hell is wrong with Spike TV????

    ReplyDelete
  31. I heard the episode actually did still air in the 1 AM timeslot.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Dosen't matter much since the episode aired anyways at around 1 AM.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Two shots to the back of the head for smoking in the non-smoking section? Self defense?

    ReplyDelete
  34. I haven't read anything yet that said he was shot in the back of the head, simply that the bar owner was claiming self defense.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The episode aired last night after midnight, I watched it. The owner was really mean to his all woman staff and the bar rescue guy flew in his parents. Dude was 105,000 in debt and it was his parents retirement money. I'm not surprised this owner did this. He seemed like the angry type that would shoot someone.

    ReplyDelete
  36. You are for being so damned insensitive to his family and fatherless child. You do not know the family, nor the circumstances. Who the heck are you to judge anyone? God? I do not think so.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I'm in Texas and on Sunday the 24th we watched the episode on Pit & Barrel. So they obviously aired the episode. Which is why I was surprised today to read the emotionally handicapped owner had shot and killed someone. Something tells me Chris Ferrell's parents will need to start working again. Shame.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I would have to agree with you.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I am sure he is sick at his stomach because of the show airing. Wayne was a great guy.

    ReplyDelete
  40. According to the Nashville police, Chris has been arrested twice, both times for driving on a suspended license, charges were dropped. Wayne Mills has an arrest record for DUI, Driving Under the Influence, and for Reckless Endangerment. Although all the facts aren't in yet, makes me wonder what shape Wayne was in at 5:00 in the morning, 2 hours have the bars close in Nashville. Also, although Chris hasn't been charged, that doesn't mean that the case won't go in front of a grand jury, to let them decide if Chris should be indicted and for what charge. Stay tuned.

  41. I don't know how you did it, but you did it. My man came back within a
week after you did the Ultimate Return My Love Spell x 3. He finally
dumped that other woman. He said he couldn't stop thinking about me.
He said he was thinking about me everyday NON-STOP! I still can't
believe it. I wish I found you earlier before I paid so much money to
other sites and spell-casters. We are going to a concert tonight and
this month we are going to Las Vegas, I think it's a surprise, because
he's been talking about marriage lately. thanks to oluwakemi you

  42. We had no idea thus even occurred before an hour ago. We we watched the episode at the late viewing because we have NFL and AMA prior reservations. The episode was like usual but it really blows me away that people want to Ian businesses like BARS and not want the proper responsibility that goes along with being the owner. No 1 responsibility is to your staff and patrons that no servers, musicians or anyone working in the place be consuming liquor except when there on a social basis! Is this too friggin hard???duh

Maybe he thought at a bar, the later the drunker.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Back of the head? When was that information released?

    ReplyDelete
  45. I personally don't care what happens to the bar owner. I just imagine this is the reason why they originally chose not to air the show. Plus it can be viewed as unprofessional to use someone's death as a way to gain publicity and might reflect poorly on Spike as a network.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yes he would have. JFK was not murdered in the spur of the moment, it was planned.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Last time you checked? What are you 3 years old?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Man, Ray. You made a lot of drunk slobs angry with your statement. BTW, do not apologize. You are right. He should have been home.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Go drink some bleach you fucking troll

    ReplyDelete
  50. You don't have friends bro, not in real life or on the internet.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Friends? Is that how you value your worth in life? The amount of friends you have? lololol, you are a pathetic little loser. Friends or no friends, you are worthless. Bro

    ReplyDelete
  52. Whatever helps you sleep at night, now go back to your moms basement and continue with you're meaningless existence.

    ReplyDelete
  53. lolol, you big dummy. You big stupid dummy.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Troll? Troll troll troll. I love it when people are pointed out how stupid they are so the resort to calling people trolls. lololol. That is so 90s. Let me ask you, do trolls post comments like this? "Go jump off a fucking bridge dude, you have zero worth to this planet." So everyone is a troll except you? You, my childish internet friend, are a flaming idiot.

    ReplyDelete
  55. They aired the show. Looks like the owner Chris was a punk. Guess this location will now close.

    ReplyDelete
  56. It's more out of respect for the family of the deceased. This way the bar (and therefore the owner) does not receive any publicity/business.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Wow, just wow! My thoughts are with the family of Wayne Mills.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Too bad, anyone smokes. It is so, unhealthy to the smoker and those around the smoker. Too bad, people do not have LOVE, COMPASSION, FORGIVENESS, and GRATITUDE for one another. If people would only follow one rule, "LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR, AS YOURSELF," it WOULD be Heaven on Earth. What an unfortunate tragedy. Sad

    ReplyDelete
  59. It doesn't take more than an hour to tear down and load gear. I DJed for almost 30 years and I can have all of my equipment torn down and loaded in less than 45 minutes. And I have way more gear than a musician.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Hanging at a bar where you play is part of that lifestyle. These guys are talented with their hands not their brains.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Why you got to steal from Les Grossman and not give credit? Plus you f--ked it up, too- "First, take a big step back... and literally, F--K YOUR OWN FACE!".

Now Paul, if you ever do that again, I will rain down an ungodly f--king firestorm upon you! You're gonna have to call the f--king United Nations and get a f--king binding resolution to keep me from f--king destroying you. I'm talking about a scorched earth, mother f--ker! I will massacre you! I WILL F--K YOU UP!

    ReplyDelete
  62. lol, Jack Bone calling someone a "dummy" is like Stevie Wonder making fun of somebody's poor depth perception.

    ReplyDelete
  63. How true. Smokers don't give a F**k about anyone but themselves.
The lead killed him before the tobacco did. But no second hand deaths from the lead.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Last words he heard, "Can't you read you drunk SOB? I mean NO Smoking!........."

    ReplyDelete
  65. Second hand smoke kills....

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hahaha, and you're comment here has you commenting as "Guest" why? Must be because you're so proud to know such ridiculous ppl right? It's easy to run your mouth on a computer screen anonymously isn't it? At least these other ppl have the balls to give their opinions with nothing to hide.Clearly you're embarrassed to say who you are so how sure are you that you're not the idiot here?

    ReplyDelete
  67. I guess it is true, smoking kills.
