Bar Rescue - Garnet Lounge (Alibi Casino) Update

On tonight's episode of Bar Rescue, Jon Taffer and crew are headed to Las Vegas, Nevada to rescue the Alibi Casino.  The Alibi Casino is a motorsports bar that has an 'inept owner and a staff of busty cougars.'  Jon will try to create a classier concept for the bar to hopefully attract more customers.  During the Bar Rescue makeover, the Alibi Casino was renamed to Garnet Lounge.

Let's take a look at some reviews and updates of Garnet Lounge since Bar Rescue came and made all of the changes to the bar (all reviews are post Bar Rescue makeover):

  • There have not been any new reviews since Bar Rescue visited, but the few reviews before the makeover seem to all complement how much people love the staff and bartenders.
  • There was a person who went to the grand re-opening and thought it was too girly. (Link)

Other news and links:

  • Garnet Lounge keeps an up-to-date Facebook page and here is their website, which is pretty much just a menu.
  • After seeing the previews of their episode of Bar Rescue, which included a blow up doll, the Garnet Lounge posted this on their Facebook page: "The first clips have finally been posted. I can't wait to see how they spin the rest of the show. Make sure you are with us on Sunday to learn what is fact, what is fiction, and what the back story is that led to all of the mayhem!!"
  •  The Garnet Lounge is having a viewing party at the bar tonight for the premiere of their Bar Rescue Episode (Facebook Event
  • Here is a Facebook picture that has a lot of the employees tagged if you care to see who the 'busty cougars' are.  Also one of the employees posted on their page that Bar Rescue wanted a blow up doll at the bar for when they filmed.

Conclusion:

It sounds like customers who go to the bar like both the employees and bartenders.  It also seems the show probably will not be happy with how they are portrayed on the episode judging by their comment after seeing a preview.  You would assume people who apply for the show would know that everything on the show isn't real and they could be portrayed badly.  However, with bars that need help, and get new equipment, new furniture, and free publicity, it is worth the trouble most of the time.

I will monitor their Facebook page to see if there are any additional reactions to the episode after it airs, and will update this post if there is anything.

UPDATE - The Garnet Lounge seemed happy with how they were portrayed on the show and had no further complaints.  The chef Jerry was not happy with how he was portrayed, and posted some comments on his Facebook page, some of which were later taken down.  The update from the end of the show stated that sales were up 20% and the bar has attracted more female customers.

UPDATE 12/2013 - The Garnet Lounge has closed.  More information on the closing.

  3. Taffer is so professional that I think he must be a robot designed by IBM or something. It's inspiring to see this mad genius at work!

  4. Sorry to say, but from the television it kinda looks like a nice topless bar.

I read the "Chef's" comments. They were pretty rude. He's clearly not a 5 star chef when he whined about the steaks. How about saying to Taffer, "Thank you.".

  6. The name BR chose, the sign, the decor inside, everything they did makes this place look like a strip club.

  7. LIved in Vegas for 12 years. Believe me when I tell you that plenty of people, male and female like the stripper club feel.

  8. That is so funny and so true. I lived there for 10 years, though never made it into any stripper club (not opposed to the opportunity, it just never happened there or anywhere), I met plenty of people who think that atmosphere is 'normal' and great. I preferred places like PT's myself, though could have done without the video poker machines on the bar since I don't gamble . . . Whata Life!
